KCI Technologies, Inc., a dynamic employee-owned engineering firm, is screening applicants for mid-level Construction Project Manager from inception through the construction completion including scoping, estimating, design, state permitting, procurement and construction . CMs will function in an Agency role as owners representative and be responsible for oversight of project schedule and budget as well as quality assurance of contractors work. CM will be required to prepare and analyze schedules, prepare cost estimates, solicit proposal, and negotiate change orders, maintain document control, solve construction problems in the field, and establish an effective working relationship with clients, contractors, and designers.


5 to 15 years of professional experience in construction management of institutional facility, utility or infrastructure projects less than $3mil. Experience working with A/E teams, contractors, and construction & design procurement from planning through completion is required. Project management software proficiency and scheduling software, such as MS Project, P3/Suretrack, or comparable systems is desired. Higher education or other campus/institutional type settings is desired.


Knowledge of the VA building codes, construction and design engineering processes, procurement and contracting, scheduling, cost estimating, quality control. Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications. Familiarity with establishing and maintaining document control on a construction project and use of document control software. Ability to use a computer and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong writing and speaking skills. Ability to work with and establish relationships with clients, A/E firms, contractors, and design engineers.

Degrees / Licenses (R)equired – (P)referred

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or architecture from an accredited university is required. Other preferred qualifications include EIT or licensed PE, CCM or CMIT, material testing certifications, Construction Quality Management. In some cases experience may substitute for degree.


Project location is Blacksburg, VA at the VA Tech University Campus.
