KCI is searching for a Senior Design Engineer who will assist in the planning, development and coordination of multiple transportation projects. As Design Engineer, this position will manage major roadway or highway projects from proposal to project closeout including proposal preparation, fees, project setup, design supervision, and quality review of all documents in accordance with company and TxDOT policies and standards. Duties include assisting project managers and project administrators with project management level duties including billing, invoicing, review and leading a team of highly trained individuals. This role will also be responsible for assisting and training other design engineers and technicians.

Experience

Candidate should have 5 - 10 years of experience in the development of Plans, Specification and Estimate (PS&E) for transportation projects, as well as experience in major roadway or highway design, plan preparation, scheduling, contracting, permitting, cost estimates and processing of engineering documents. Direct experience with TxDOT required. Experience with city and county major roadway projects will be considered.

Skills

Must be current in the technical skills needed for the development of PS&E, major roadway or highway designs, specifications and plans for TxDOT including conventional computer and CADD (MicroStation and Geopak) applications. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Coordination with others, ability to lead, train and work within a team.

Degrees / Licenses (R)equired – (P)referred

Bachelor of Science in Engineering is required, preference in Civil Engineering. PE registration in Texas, or ability to obtain within 6 months is required. Master's Degree is a plus.
