Specific duties will vary depending on active projects. Initially, local travel is anticipated 25% - 50% of each work week, with substantial involvement in on-going projects in Washington, D.C. Other duties include code consulting and performing fire protection system and life safety design efforts efforts. Extended (over-night) travel will also be required from time to time as project needs dictate.


3-6 years experience in the field of fire protection engineering. Must be a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.).


Proficient with construction field surveillance activities (as they relate to fire protection and life safety systems), developing field reports, punch lists, and evaluating means and methods of construction for code compliance. Excellent working knowledge of typical fire protection codes and standards (IBC, NFPA, UFC). Excellent communicator, both written and oral. Technical proficiency in code consulting, including development of and analysis of life safety concepts and code compliance. Additional knowledge base in the design of fire protection systems is a plus. Proficient in Autodesk Revit preferred.

Degrees / Licenses (R)equired – (P)referred

B.S. or M.S. degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field with past professional responsibilities being specific to Fire Protection and Life Safety. Must be a registered professional engineer (P.E.) who has passed the fire protection engineering written examination administered by NCEES.


Must be a U.S. citizen. Ability to obtain a clearance.
