DutiesServes as a Highway/Traffic Practice Leader in the Transportation Discipline, based in the firm’s Richmond, VA office. Supervises highway design staff and plans, executes and manages projects within discipline/practice area and assigned operating region. Assists in sales activities and maintenance of client relationships. Prepares technical and fee proposals. Responsible for staff development, project execution, and procurement of work. Participates in the preparation of designs and contract documents, as required. Performs QA/QC reviews for project or task deliverables.
ExperienceVDOT roadway design experience is required. 15 years of progressive experience in roadway design for State, County and/or municipal government agencies. Successful candidate will have demonstrated hands-on local marketing and project management experience.
SkillsProven project management expertise, with ability to lead technical design teams and mentor subordinate staff. Demonstrated technical expertise in highway/traffic engineering, including the development of technical proposals. Strong oral and written communications, along with proven ability to effectively manage client relationships and procure new work. Must have a good working knowledge of conventional office computer applications, in addition to various analysis and design applications common to area of technical proficiency and to VDOT.

Advanced Engineering or Business degrees a plus.
OtherMust be dependable, have initiative, possess integrity, productive and work well with others. Must be a highly self-motivated dynamic individual. Directly reports to South Atlantic Regional Practice Leader. The ideal candidate will have experience in any/all of the following:
• VDOT Design-Build
• OpenRoads software
• Drainage design
• ProjectWise software
• Municipal projects
• Experience with ISO 9001:2000 certified quality management system environment.
