Responsible for structural design development of transportation projects including coordination with multiple design disciplines. Responsible for the preparation of plans, technical specifications, and construction estimates in accordance with SCDOT design manuals and standard drawings. Assist Project Engineers and Project Manager in quality control procedures. Train and mentor junior staff


KCI is seeking a highly talented Structural Engineer/design professional with 5 to 10 years of experience in transportation structures design to join our team in the Rock Hill office. The position requires experience in design of civil transportation projects. This individual will be responsible for South Carolina based bridge project plan development, assist in sales activities, maintenance of client relationships and assist with staff development.


Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and coordinate with others. Understanding of practices related to bridge engineering including bridge terminology, bridge geometrics layout, structural analysis, steel design, reinforced/prestressed concrete design, design procedures, drafting skill, construction drawing preparation, soil mechanics, structural quantities. Experience in Microstation, Leap Bridge Design Suite, and related bridge structural software. Application of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications. Experience with SCDOT Structure Design practices.

Degrees / Licenses (R)equired – (P)referred

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering is required. PE registration in NC and SC, or ability to obtain within one year, is required. Masters degree is a plus.
