Duties

Assist with various ecological restoration projects, including stream and riparian buffer restoration, wetland creation/restoration and occasionally support various biological and chemical assessment field efforts.

Conduct fluvial geomorphic assessments.

Conduct construction oversight during stream restoration implementation.

Support permitting and regulatory coordination efforts as necessary, through field and office work.

Input data and write reports.

Utilize analytical skills necessary to solve complex problems both in a team setting and individually. The ideal candidate will be able to think for themselves and work with minimal guidance at times.

Experience

0-3 years professional experience related to ecological restoration and stream assessment for natural and urbanized channels. Experience with geomorphic assessment in the Mid-Atlantic preferred.

Microstation and GIS experience is a preferred.

Applied knowledge of the principles of geomorphology and Hydrology & Hydraulics (H&H) preferred.

Skills

A demonstrated understanding of fluvial geomorphology principles and processes and restoration methodologies for freshwater and tidal ecosystems.

Familiarity of ArcGIS and other database management and mapping tools will be required as part of the position.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills of technical data. Independent work, organizational ability, constant communication and time management skills are required for this position.

A rigorous work ethic and strong research, math, and analysis skills are a requirement of this position.

The ability to learn new field and office skills quickly will be critical in this position.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.

Degrees / Licenses (R)equired – (P)referred

BS in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Wildlife and Fisheries Management, Environmental or Water Resource Engineering or equivalent (R). MS in relevant field a plus.

EIT or ability to obtain is a plus.

Other

Ability to work in a team environment, with individuals in other geographies is a prerequisite of this opportunity.

Overnight travel will be required on occasion.
