Provide inspection and monitoring of Better Management Practices (BMPs) on NCDOT roadway and bridge construction projects. Must have solid understanding of erosion control device installation, maintenance and removal. Must be diligent in documenting erosion prevention and sediment control measures as required by the NPDES permit. Will received training in other areas of NCDOT roadway and bridge construction over time. Will be required to measure and document field quantities, conduct field tests and other tests to determine contractors compliance with contract requirements. Projects are located in the Winston-Salem (NCDOT Division 9)area of North Carolina.


Minimum of four years of experience as an erosion control inspector or installer (as a contractor) on NCDOT roadway and bridge projects. Additional experience on roadway and bridge construction as a construction inspector on NCDOT or other projects a plus.


Must have good basic math, writing and reading skills. Must be physically able to lift testing equipment weighing as much as 30 pounds and walk up and down slopes and be able communicate effectively with others and the general public. Should have working knowledge of computers/iPads.

Must be able to get along and work productively with others including KCI and NCDOT technicians, contractor personnel and the public.

Degrees / Licenses (R)equired – (P)referred

An active NCDOT Erosion Control Level II certification a plus. Must have ability to obtain NCDOT certifications in asphalt, concrete and soil density testing during first 120 days of starting work.
