Duties

KCI Technologies, Inc., a dynamic employee-owned engineering firm, has an opening for mid-level Construction Clerk of the Works (COTW) in the Warrenton VA and Virginia Beach area. The COTW will report day to day to the Dept of Veterans Services PM in an independent duty assignment. Can work as a 1099 or KCI employee depending on needs of individual. Each project in each location is construction of a new $60mil Veterans Health Services Center. Projects start in June 2018 however the client (Department of Veterans Services) will make selections this January. Position will be in an Agency owners rep role and be responsible for reviewing and analyzing CPM schedules, preparing new schedules for construction and design projects. Will be required to analyze schedules, prepare cost estimates and recommend change orders, maintain document control, solve construction problems in the field, and establish an effective working relationship with clients, contractors, and designers.

Experience

Clerk of the Works and Building Inspection experience required. VA State government BCOM / CPSM and CCM experience a plus. Ten years of experience in inspecting and supporting the management of construction projects as an Owner's representative. Project experience should consist of new construction for buildings, renovations, utility relocations or other construction types. Experience in reviewing and analyzing critical path method schedules for completeness, reading blueprints, tracking deficiencies, construction safety, tracking submittals and RFI's required.

Skills

Knowledge and experience in preparing and analyzing construction CPM schedules, contractor payment requisitions, RFI's, changes and requests for equitable adjustments, submittals. Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications. Familiarity with CPM scheduling and standard scheduling software. Familiarity with cost estimating and standard estimating software. Ability to manage budgets. Familiarity with establishing and maintaining document control on a construction project and use of document control software. Ability to use a computer and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong writing and speaking skills. Ability to work with and establish relationships with clients, contractors, and design engineers. Must be organized and capable of running weekly status meetings and giving informal presentations on project issues
