Perform construction inspection and documentation services on heavy highway and bridge projects. Candidate must have the ability to sometimes work in adverse weather conditions. Candidate must be physically able to perform moderately strenuous tasks; which includes walking along rough terrain, climbing ladders and lifting up to 50 pounds. Candidate must be available to possibly work night shift or a varied work schedule. Position may require overnight travel. Position is subject to seasonal layoff.


1 or more years experience working in Transportation Construction Inspection or Design or 5 years of highway and/or bridge construction experience Previous experience on Pennsylvania Turnpike or PennDOT highway or bridge projects preferred.


Candidate must be able to read, write and communicate fluently. Candidate must possess basic math skills including geometry and trigonometry. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to understand construction plans, specifications and procedures. Candidate will be responsible for documentation of daily construction activities, which includes the measurement and calculation of pay quantities. Candidate should be proficient in the use of PennDOT’s ECMS and CDS/NeXtGen systems.

Required: High school diploma (or equivalent) and valid driver’s license. Preferred: BSCE; ACI Technician Certification; PennDOT Concrete Technician Certification; NECEPT Field Technician Certification; CDS NeXtGen Certified; NICET Certification in Heavy Highway Construction, Materials Testing or Bridge Condition Inspection; and Troxler Nuclear Gauge Certification.


Pre-employment drug testing is a condition of employment. PennDOT classifications of TCI-2,TCI-3, TCIS-1 and TCIS-2 (and associated pay rates) are based on combination of experience, training and education. Assignments in Northeast Pennsylvania (PennDOT Districts 4 and 5) available.
