Duties

Perform construction inspection and documentation services on large transportation or utility projects. Candidate must have the ability to sometimes work in adverse weather conditions. Candidate must be physically able to perform moderately strenuous tasks; which includes walking along rough terrain, climbing ladders and lifting up to 50 pounds. Candidate must be available to work a varied work schedule, including nights and weekends. Position may require overnight travel.

Experience

20 or more year’s experience working in Transportation Construction Inspection and Project Management. Previous experience on TxDOT highway or bridge projects preferred.

Skills

Candidate must be able to read, write and communicate fluently. Candidate must possess basic math skills including geometry and trigonometry. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to understand construction plans, specifications and procedures. Candidate will be responsible for documentation of daily construction activities, which includes the measurement and calculation of pay quantities. Candidate should be proficient in recording all details of multiple construction operations and apply this information to a daily inspector report. Knowledge of the SiteManager documentation system is preferred. Candidate may be assigned to manage an individual project or oversee multiple projects simultaneously, directing the work of other assigned inspectors.

Degrees / Licenses (R)equired – (P)referred

Required: High school diploma (or equivalent) and valid driver’s license. Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree; ACI Technician Certification; TxDOT Concrete Technician Certification; TxDOT 1B Certification; and Troxler Nuclear Gauge Certification. A valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation is required.
