Duties

Ability to manage and perform various geotechnical studies and subsurface explorations, including infiltration tests to determine drainage properties, subsurface data evaluation, design analysis, and prepare geotechnical technical reports for a wide variety of geotechnical and civil engineering projects. Perform foundation design calculations and assist senior geotechnical engineers for large and complex geotechnical studies and design. Manage the subsurface data using gINT.

Experience

Must have minimum 5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering field in a variety of geotechnical, geotechnical seismic/earthquake, pavement, and materials engineering as a part of major transportation (highways and structure), environmental, sanitary, landfill and solid waste management, site development, general civil engineering, and construction programs. Other experience such as dam design, seepage analysis and dam safety inspection preferred. South Carolina, especially SCDOT, is highly desired.

Skills

Working knowledge of geotechnical/geotechnical seismic and pavement software such as LPILE, SLIDE, PSTABLE, gINT, UTEXAS (3 or 4), DRIVEN, PLAXIS, SHAKE, DEEPSOIL and DARWIN. Knowledgeable in various geotechnical instrumentation and in-situ testing. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong work ethics, and a team player. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.

Degrees / Licenses (R)equired – (P)referred

B.S., Civil Engineering with coursework in geotechnical engineering (Required). M.S., Geotechnical Engineering (Preferred). Professional Engineer (PE) (Preferred). 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training (Preferred).
