Duties include daily oversight of Contractor's construction activities, verifying compliance with approved plans, contract Special Provisions and Federal Highway Specifications; ensuring workmanship conforms to specified tolerances, documenting daily inspections and testing in daily reports, and preparing photo documentation of daily conditions, progress and quality. Reviewing material deliveries for quantity, approved source and certification(s), as needed. Conducting and/or documenting routine soils, concrete and asphalt testing. Performs inspections of environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials, and all issues concerning the construction of the project. When areas of non-conformance are identified the CI-III shall inform the construction contractor to take appropriate action to correct these areas. Review and recommend accepting or rejecting daily reports submitted by the contractor. Ability to maintain project records, solve construction problems in the field and establish effective working relationships with clients, contractors and designers. Maintain "as-built" drawings.


Lead (Senior) construction inspector for a 5M+ Marina Project - Fire Island - New York State. Extensive Electrical & Carpentry Experience required. Knowledge of Federal Highway Standards preferred.


This is a senior level position and requires a comprehensive knowledge of various construction methods, environmental compliance, surveying, equipment, trades, materials, schedules, and practices. The Senior Inspector must be able to interpret project plans, specifications, contracts, regulations, schedules, submittals, and detailed cost estimates. This position requires an extensive knowledge and experience in Marina/Dock construction inspection and monitoring. The Senior Inspector must be able to monitor and evaluate the construction contractor’s quality control inspection and testing systems. Ability to read plans and specifications and determine merit on issues. Ability to use a computer and Microsoft Office suite needed. Ability to observe and report on quality of construction, construction techniques, and Federal Highway Standards, document and resolve field issues.

Degrees / Licenses (R)equired – (P)referred

AA Degree (or higher) in Construction or Engineering Technology or NICET Level III or higher or EIT Certificate. International Code Council Electric Certifications a plus
