Duties

KCI Technologies is currently seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer. One can expect to be responsible for the planning and execution of all phases of work assignment. The right candidate will have extensive academic knowledge and professional experience in field of Mechanical Engineering. They will initiate independent engineering studies and will accept complex technical assignments. Must be able to provide technical leadership for, or coordination of, a technical team that may involve discipline specific staff. The right candidate will perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in preparation of engineering design work. Work will include details of work and making selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives. Individual will be responsible for Quality Control procedures. Supervisor screens assignments for unclear or difficult problems and selects techniques and procedures to be applied on non-routine work. Receives limited supervision from project manager on new aspects of assignments. Minimal client contact. Using prescribed methods, performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of a more experienced engineer. Applies standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjusts and correlates data, recognizes discrepancies in results, and follows directions through a series of related detailed steps or processes. While working directly with internal and external resources and clientele, this position will be involved with the following building technologies: HVAC, Utility Piping, Plumbing, Fire Protection systems and other specialized building components.

Experience

5 - 10 years of working experience in a consulting engineering environment. CAD Design capability and experience. Experience in the Evaluation/Design of Mechanical Systems or Performing Building Code Consultation. Experience in Developing Contract Documents for Facility related mechanical systems. Working knowledge of National Building, Fire Codes and Construction Standards. Knowledge of National Fire Association (NFPA) Standards, including Life Safety Code requirements for both new construction and modifications to existing buildings.

Skills

Ability to interpret engineering plans and maps. Knowledge of Microstation V8 and/or AutoCAD 2006 software, equipment, symbols, practices, and procedures. Ability to perform engineering calculations. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.

Degrees / Licenses (R)equired – (P)referred

Must have a BS Degree in Architectural Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited engineering institution required, Professional Engineering License (PE) required, Certified-In-Plumbing-Design (CPD) preferred, Masters Degree preferred.

US Citizenship required, Computer Literate required, Excellent verbal and written skills required, Valid Drivers License required, DoD Top Secret Clearance (TS/SCI) or the ability to obtain required.
