Duties

Duties required in this position are likely to require a candidate to: Determine requirements to accommodate joint use with other utilities such as communication companies in accordance with NESC. Review plans of proposed construction by customers and other agencies to determine the impact on existing distribution systems. Coordinate design options with engineering personnel and field forces prior to and during construction to resolve issues. Develop final design packages to implement solutions to distribution design system issues.

Experience

A selected candidate will demonstrate experience in applying knowledge of engineering practices and mathematics to prepare construction details on more complex electric, gas and or outdoor lighting distribution system designs. This may include: extension, improvement, relocation, abandonment, removal of facilities, determining load requirements and the application of published standards and calculations using computer aided design and drafting methods in conjunction with Smallworld based GIS systems.

Skills

A sample of the skill set required may include the following: Working knowledge of 13kv Distirbution systems, Familiar with NESC clearance codes as they apply to the High Voltage Line Act, active knowledge of Smallworld based GIS systems and design and drafting skills utilizing Microstation preferred.
