Duties

*preparation and supervision of traffic engineering design, studies and analysis
*assist with proposal preparation
*assist with developing junior staff

Experience

* 8 to 12 years experience in traffic engineering - operations and design
*demonstrated progression of responsibility for project completion
*experience in all aspects of project development, e.g., client contact, scope, fee estimate, data collection, analysis, alternative development, preliminary and final design, construction package preparation, specifications, cost estimates, consultation during contruction
*traffic signal and traffic signal system design
*traffic control plan (maintenance of traffic) design
*signing and pavement marking design
*roadway and intersection lighting design
*traffic signal warrant analysis
*accident and safety studies
*pedestrian and bicycle studies
*traffic calming studies
*traffic impact study preparation and review
*report preparation
*familiarity with MSHA, DDOT, VDOT, DelDOT and/or Maryland county design requirements

Skills

*strong written and verbal communication skills
*knowledge of use of and interpretation of results of standard traffic engineering software, e.g., HCS, SIDRA, SYNCHRO/SIM-TRAFFIC and/or VISSIM
*familiarity with standard traffic engineering references, e.g., MUTCD, AASHTO Green Book, HCM, ITE Guidelines and Handbooks
*MicroStation and/or AutoCAD
